This object lesson teaches that the safest place for us is in the center of God’s will. Individuals or groups will create a board (representing God’s will) with rope handles and then attempt to spin it in a circle with a cup of water on it. If they do it correctly, centrifugal force will keep the water in the cup. The metaphor is that when everything is “spinning” around us, the center of God’s will is the best place to keep us from being “upset.”

You can have each individual create their own board, or you can form groups, and have them work on it together.

Cardboard or corrugated plastic board (“future board”) - 1 square per individual or group – at least 8.5”x11.75”

Note card – 1 per individual or group

Marker – 1 marker to share

Tape – 1 roll to share

Scissors – 1 pair to share

Plastic cups – 2 per individual or group

Rope or twine – 2 lengths of about 5 ft each (10 ft total) per individual or group

Gallon of water – 1 per group
